TPD Officer Injured in Late Night Crash

A Tallahassee Police spokesman says Chuck Perry is on paid leave pending the outcome of the FHP investigation.

The Florida Highway Patrol has released a one page report on the April 29th crash.
It says that Tallahassee Police Officer Charles Perry was seriously injured when his car veered off an interstate ramp at I-10 and Highway 90 east.
The FHP report says Perry’s car spun out and hit a tree, then spun the opposite direction and hit another tree. The report says the car overturned on the driver’s side.
The crash did an estimated $8,000 in damage to Perry’s Chevy Camaro. The report says it was an unmarked TPD car.
The FHP crash report says alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Troopers are still investigating and say charges are pending.

The Florida Highway Patrol confirms it is investigating a weekend crash that involved a Tallahassee Police officer in a city-owned car.
CAPT David Tripp says it happened April 29th at 3am on an I-10 exit ramp at Highway 90 east.
Tripp could not confirm the name of the officer or comment on his condition.
Tripp says troopers are still investigating the cause of the one-car crash.
Tripp says FHP intends to release more information later this afternoon.
A TPD spokesman declined to comment on the crash, saying FHP is in charge of the investigation.
